| - This WAS the hotel we used to recommend to our out-of-town guests all the time; we would tell them about the convenient midtown location in a park-like setting, a wonderful Japanese restaurant in-house that is one of the best in TO (this hotel used to be owned by Japanese, when it was the Prince Hotel).
Recently we had to stay in a hotel in our hometown (reasons not explained to protect the innocent), so Westin Prince here we came. All we can say is , what a "change" and not all for the better:
- The rooms, beds, showers etc. have been remodel ed to typical Westin standard and theme/feel which is quite nice;
- The view from the room is still gorgeous;
- The service, ugh, when something goes wrong is when you need to rely on the service the most, is sadly missing. I left some clothing items behind in the closet, okay my fault, but the ensuing experience is exceptionally unimpressive. We called the hotel shortly after checking-out, thinking they can just send someone to the room to retrieve the items. We were promised a quick response, but no one called back. Called them again, this time someone needed to check with the security desk before responding back.....didn't. Called again, Oh the security manager is tracking down housekeeping manager and will call you back....didn't. Then, they said they had to wait for the very person who'd cleaned our room to show up work again (she is a part-time) to speak to her, of course by then several days had gone by and the items were never found. It's just bizarre to think in this day and age of modern communication/process/standards, you'd have to wait for one person to turn up work again days later and tell you what she remembered seeing out of the numerous rooms she'd cleaned???
Needless to say, we no longer feel convinced to recommend this place to any of our friends/guests.
