My experience was downright scary and emotionally. I almost put my dog down due to their wrong diagnosis and unnecessary pain due to lack of treament for his ears. I came in on two separate visits for my dogs ears. First visit, he was given prednisone (CHARGED OFFICE VISIT, CULTURE, AND PREDNISONE). Cultured showed bacterial and yeast. Told to return 2 wks to clean ear and place antibiotics in his ear.
Went to 2nd visit. (GOT CHARGED AN OFFICE VISIT AND SOMETHING ELSE). That visit was under $100. I was told to give him prescribed oral sedation. Dr. Colleen told me that we had bad news and he definitely ruptured right ear drum and possibly the left too. They refused to give him antibiotics and wanted to put him under general to clean them out, culture again and look at them at a cost of $600 plus. It was on the paperwork that this needed to be done every 6-8 was at $600 a pop. This was insane. When I told them, I can't afford this, the vet tech suggested turning him over to a rescue group.
Luckily, I had enough common sense to find a place that helps owners in this situation with their pets. I saw their vet and it was determined that he DID NOT HAVE RUPTURED EARDRUMS. Just bacterial ear infections. He could have gone on antibiotic at the first visit and avoid him suffering, but instead they wanted to get more money out of me. Thanks to the new clinic, my dog is feeling better.
To think that I almost put him down due to the vet wrong diagnosis is scary. They are money hungry and not in the best interest of pets. They were neglectful. Please get a second opinion before you do anything expensive and make sure this place is not your second opinion.
