| - W o w. So yes, let's make one thing very, very clear: Dominick's is expensive and it definitely is fine dining. You're not only paying big bucks for your food, but you're also paying for the experience. This place is gorgeous and the staff are all EXTREMELY professional and friendly. We were sat in the wine room, which is on the first floor, right behind the main bar. It's a pretty small room. I think it fit 4-5 tables so it's definitely a great private and intimate area. The wine room is surrounded by huge glass doors, each one displaying countless bottles of wine. It was BEAUTIFUL. And I'm super bummed I didn't take any pictures! The wine room is super-duper romantic! I also hear the top floor's pool seating area is also romantic, but I didn't get a chance to see it.
Our waitress (omg I forgot her name) was unbelievably charismatic. She made us feel extra welcomed. One thing you'll notice about Dominick's menu is that there's 4-5 different side potato dishes! Feeling overwhelmed, I asked our waitress which one I should choose, and she laughed and kindly described each dish. She recommended the crispy hasselback potato so that's what we ordered. 10/10 would recommend, over and over again. We also got the sautéed sweet corn (which were EXTREMLY and oddly yellow? Anyway, this is beside the point), which was just as delicious! One of the chefs and a different waiter brought out each of our sides and served us! I thought it was a lovely touch. Each side dish is pretty generous so I definitely recommend sharing.
As for the steaks, I got the bone-in ribeye medium, and my SO got the bone-in KC strip medium rare. Honestly, I'm practically drooling right now from just thinking of the steaks. These steaks are HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!! I got the "regular" ribeye, which is 22 oz. I'm not sure why I always do this to myself, but I convince myself that I can easily eat a gigantic steak at whatever steakhouse I'm at, but each time I order said steak, I end up eating only 1/6 of it. Anyway, if you're like me, definitely save a few bucks and order a smaller steak, or order something else and split a steak with your SO. For the record, my SO didn't finish his steak either!
The only thing that I wasn't a huge fan of was the black truffle green peppercorn sauce that was (fortunately) brought out on the side for my steak. I can't accurately describe the flavor, but it just... wasn't good. It just tasted like really sour wine? It didn't really even have a hint of truffle or peppercorn. I literally dipped once piece of steak into it and that was it. My SO didn't seem to be a fan of it either. He was also too enchanted by the blue cheese he got on his steak so...
As always, my SO picked the wine and I have no idea what I drank - all I know is that it was expensive and I liked it and we finished an entire bottle.
I should mention that we went to Dominick's to celebrate my SO's birthday. I called ahead to make reservations and told them that we were going there for a birthday. Upon our arrival, they had a birthday card for him! Another lovely touch. Although, I will admit that I was a tiny bit disappointed when I saw that the card was just a piece of paper folded in half... Honestly, I would've loved some branded stationary, especially for the $$$$ we paid! A piece of paper with Dominick's on the letterhead would've been sweet! Word of advice to Dominick's: this is a golden marketing and branding opportunity!
In addition to the card/piece of paper, our waitress surprised us with the desserts menu and said that it was on the house. Of course, my SO ordered the sweetest thing on the menu. It was a vanilla cake with gelato and caramel, I think. They brought it out on a nice long, white plate, with a huge pile of whipped cream and a candle. They also wrote "Happy Birthday" in chocolate. Another great lovely touch!
Long story short, if you want to seriously woo that special somebody in your life, take them to Dominick's! We had a wonderful experience and the staff certainly impressed us with all of their little touches (aside from the piece of paper/card; maybe this was fluke or maybe they ran out of branded stationary... who knows!)
Will I come back here? Probably. Will I come back here soon? Probably not. I need to talk to my wallet first.
