| - So let me say for starters that there was nothing in particular wrong with the room -- standard issue stuff, modern, tasteful, etc. However, there were a couple of things that took it down from an adequate, if not exciting, experience, to pretty "eh."
Now, I don't watch much TV, but it took me and my mom a good five minutes to get the TV turned on. The remote didn't seem to be working, I got out of bed and looked for a power button, we considered if the remote's batteries were working, if it was the right remote...I really have no explanation for why it was so hard. Once on, they have digital TV, so flipping channels is kind of annoying, since you have to wait a moment for the picture to appear. So watching a little TV before bed was not as relaxing as it might have been.
This being a mid-range hotel, breakfast is provided. I am huge fan of breakfast in general, and being that I was going to spend the day helping someone move, I wanted to get off to a good start. The coffee was the first bad sign -- my mom drinks decaf, but the two coffee dispensers were labeled "House" and "Gourmet." So...huh? In either case, the coffee was overly strong/bitter and just not very good.
The scrambled eggs were oddly clumpy, so clearly from dehydrated eggs. I thought adding salt might help, but it just brought out even water from the eggs. Yuck. The sliced sausage tasted of everything processed and chemical. I muscled through a few pieces before giving up in disgust. Another in our party had a pastry, which looked appealing, but he reported it was pretty gross as well. Overall, despite the tidy room and nice appearance, breakfast was a fiasco. My mom and I decamped for Perkins the following morning instead.
Overall, it was fine, but I wouldn't be in a hurry to stay here again.
