| - I had a good experience when I took my daughter here and she was 9 months old and fearless. Fast forward 3 years...
My daughter is now 3 years old and pretty scared of being in the water besides the shallow end. We take her swimming 4 times a week and she still has fear, so I figured I'd turn to professionals. I chose WW since we had been here before, and because they have tons of classes that fit our schedule.
The first time we went was fine. Stephanie was a nice teacher and patient with my daughter as she knew she was scared.
We missed a class because we were out of town, but don't worry, they harass your cell phone until you're paid up. Yes we paid for the time we weren't there, I figure fine it's like a day care, pay even if you're not there. $18 wasted...
The last lesson was with a different teacher (message me if you want her name). She knew my daughter was scared. She was not patient with her nor the other kids. I think she doesn't like kids at all. She splashes them in a really mean way in their faces if they're not paying attention. I thought my daughter might do well with her strict nature as she's a great student, nope. At the end of the lesson, even though my daughter was listening and doing the motions (though crying a little), she literally threw her in the water so she went under the water for a few seconds. I've never seen her so terrified when she got out and I felt like a bad mom for allowing this to happen. I tried to calm her when she got out but she was inconsolable.
Okay, so the teacher was mean....maybe switch teachers. Nope, my daughter is traumatized and has begged me not to go near the place. I tried rescheduling and let them know about my concerns. Guess what their only concern is? Getting payment. Not finding out how they can talk to the teacher and make her better. I even left a message to cancel our lessons and said its because the teacher threw my kid in the water after knowing full well about her fear and not knowing how to swim....they called me back (I missed the call and they left a message....did not address my concern and just asked about payment).
Yes, I will come in and pay you for the last lesson when you traumatized my kid. But we will not be back. Had you shown concern in any way, I might reconsider.
Friends had warned me not to come here. Silly me not listening, mainly because of the schedule convenience.
And for anyone who thinks I'm a helicopter mom being over dramatic about it, I'm not. I'm pretty laid back and thought maybe the harsh teacher could help my kid with a different learning approach. I didn't realize she freaked my daughter out so badly until a week later when she begged me over and over not to go inside, and that she would only go in if it was "not miss ______. If it's miss ______, I WILL NOT go in mommy, please listen to me."
One star for the teacher and customer service. 4 stars for Stephanie the nice teacher. But this should really be 1 star.
Thanks for making my daughter's fear of swimming 10x worse that it was when we started, it's greatly appreciated. On goes the hunt for swim lessons...
