| - I had an interesting experience here as a lone Hawaii woman looking for some drinks on New Years Eve.
The secret door was easy enough to find as over time I suppose the strength of the door mechanism has worn, keeping the door slightly ajar. Upon entering, I found the place quite lovely. It has a sort of upscale yet cozy vibe, seemingly the kind of place for socialites in their late 20's and up. It's also quiet in the earlier hours, which is nice for a date.
One hiccup in my experience is that I found it a bit difficult to find a place I could sit alone--most of the tables had four chairs around them and the bar was already full. I felt bad taking up a table all by myself, potentially putting a whole three other people out of a seat.
That's when the host at the door let me know there was a brand new bar area in back, through the second curtain on the right. I love new places AND I love being alone so I was ecstatic to find the cute little bar was empty. I think I was officially the first person to order a drink as that night was their soft-opening.
Service was great, both bartenders seemed cool and upbeat but friendly. I noticed one man siting off on the far right side of the bar whom I later discovered to be the owner of DCR. I get the reason for not interacting with patrons but after finding out someone is the owner, you get a kind of weird vibe when they're not smiling, upbeat or friendly, y'know? I would have loved to compliment him on the venue if he seemed more approachable. It's one of my new favorite lounges in vegas.
The bar itself aside, the interesting part of my experience happened when an entire posse of people came in looking like they came straight out of the movie Zoolander. I don't mean to disrespect them, but that's the best way I could describe the clothing and hairstyles. I don't know if they were models, artists, singers, actors or YouTube stars... but it was quite interesting to be in the mix of it. Someone was filming a few of the people in the group.
If DCR is as popular as it is to have a crowd there filming something, who knows who else will stop by? Check it out and maybe you'll be lucky to meet some artists/celebrities~
