| - I just seen a Bear fall through a pack of ice, and swam to the shore with...Frost Bites,
Bears are fun to watch, but sometime they wake up too early from their dens and get... Frost Bites.
The sound of blade
Beating on my head
The frostiness of my cup
Torn my brain apart
You've been Frost bitten!
Okay, AC/DC has nothing to fear from my musical writing 101, but Frost Bites are TNT Dynamite as far as Snow ice in Las Vegas, and nothing can touch these guys in town. If there was battle royal going on, Kuma just got bear sprayed and taken down by this little wolverine, and even Fluff Ice is like a Fluffer compared to Frost Bites. Heck, Frost Bites are the Blockheads of Las Vegas!
This two man operation is located in the same parking lot as Friendly donuts. Just look for the little trailer on the east side of Boulder highway at the Smith Shopping Center.
Why the five stars? Think of the old Smith and Barney motto, "they did it the old fashion way, they earn it!" Frost Bites didn't need any gimmick of a big name celebrity chef or a great location, because they NAILED IT DOWN on a rock solid recipe. The texture and consistency of their snow ice was exactly like what a snow ice should be! It's light, and melt in your mouth! This crew should be proud of what they bring to the table, because if I was the owner of that "other new place" in Chinatown, I would be putting my little tail between my legs, and be ashamed on what they bought to Las Vegas.
My extended family was formally in the sherbet manufacturing business a few decades ago in Hawaii, and I have some understanding of what goes into making these types tasty treats. It's very obvious that Frost Bites doesn't cut corners on Flavoring or any of their ingredients, because you can tell there using natural flavors, fresh cut fruit, and actually using some "MOOOO" in their mixture....unlike another place in the valley.
Yesterday was my first visit, I purchased a Strawberry ice, with strawberries, Almonds, and Strawberries condense cream. Damn, it was better than_____. I'll let your mind determine what that blank is, but it was so awesome that I made another trip to Frost Bite a couple of hours later with the family, and tried out the Black Sesame. I have to say it had a kind of Azuki bean flavor, and it was very original and damn good. At this point, I"m more than half way through on my frequent buyer punch card.
For the past couple of months I just thought of Frost bites as just another "shave ice truck", and was thinking of stopping by a few time, but never gave it another thought. Due to Shirley's tip for me on my Fluff ice check in (Monetery Park, CA) on Wednesday; it was a no-brainier to check out Frost Bites...and so should you! All of you! Good luck Frost Bites, and i'll see you in a few minutes.
