| - My dog spent one day here for group play. The staff was very helpful and friendly both over the phone and in person. My concerns are regarding cleanliness, space, and choosing appropriate dogs for group play.
When I dropped my dog off, I toured the facility. I noticed that the play areas are quite small - not nearly enough room for a dog to run. The had around 10 dogs in each pen with one human in each. In the big dog pen, there was one dog that was acting aggressively toward the others. The person giving my tour explained that they had to shift certain dogs in and out of the group because they "didn't like each other." My dog is on the smaller side so I requested that she be allowed to play in the small dog pen.
The smell of old dog urine is overwhelming as soon as you come inside. They have a candle burning in the reception area that does not mask the smell at all. Although this concerned me, I figured "It's only for one day, it will be okay."
So I left my dog there and after a couple of hours, I just could not shake the bad feeling I had, so I drove back and picked her up earlier than I'd originally planned. When I got her in the farm she smelled horrible, just like the facility. When I pet her, she was STICKY with dog urine. Her poor tail was matted with foul smelling, sticky fluid.
I took her back to the hotel and gave her a bath.
So issues:
1. Dogs that act aggressively toward others shouldn't be allowed into group play.
2. The play areas are very small.
3. I'm not sure that the facility is set up to keep things clean - I didn't see floor drains where they could hose out the play pens. That would make cleaning very difficult after 10 dogs do their business in the pen.
4. My dog needed to be groomed when she left.
I won't use this facility again. A sign on he walk said that they plan to. I've to a different space. Maybe the new facility will be better for the purpose.
