| - A lovely old parkland-style course. They have made enough improvements over the years to keep the course modern, friendly and playable for all skill levels - challenging from the back tees and beginner friendly from the front.
The course is usually in fine shape. It's part of a forest preserve so I would imagine that things like weed killer are forbidden or severely limited, but on the plus side, there are areas of tall prairie sprinkled around that beckon to landscapes past.
The highlight of Lake of the Woods golf course is its wildlife. Expect to see deer, foxes, skunk, woodchucks, rabbits, squirrels (brown, gray, and black) and an amazing selection of birds including some very big owls. If you are seeing the owls however, your golf game is probably in need of some serious help. There are friendly and experienced staff available to help out players of any level at their practice greens, pro shop and driving range.
Overall, a pleasant experience and a nice value for the money.
