| - I have a very short haircut much like men wear. I went in for a haircut and asked for the barber. I was told by a stylist that the barber only cuts mens' hair and she only take appointments. I settled for the stylist who was gave me the information on the barber. I asked how much the haircut would be and was told, "$35 for a lady's cut". I asked how much a man's cut was and was told $25. I asked why I should pay $10 more even though I have a man's hairstyle. I was not given a reasonable answer, but the stylist agreed to cut my hair for $25. OMG, this woman had clippers that were loud and broken, and scissors that seemed not to have been sharpened in years. After 10 minutes in her chair and her clearly not comfortable with what she was doing, I stopped the service and told her that it just wasn't working for me. Fortunately, she walked me over to the barber.
This is where my review gets five stars - not for the salon, but for the one-chair barbershop within this salon. Ellen is the barber and she is amazing! She cleaned up the mess made by the other stylist, she gave me the best haircut I've ever had with my current style, and she charged me less than the 'stylist' who hadn't a clue. I feel so fortunate to have had a misfortune that led me to Ellen. She is personable, professional, and an excellent technician. I highly recommend Ellen if you want a great haircut. It seems she is quite busy so I would recommend scheduling an appointment. I was lucky and happened to catch her between appointments, but I get the impression that she is quite busy.
