  • I made appt for oil change on 12-15-2015 at 2 pm at 4301 E Thomas, Phoenix location. An hour later, when the car was ready, they brought it to the east side of the building. I saw on that side of the building a big sign saying oil change $14.95. I told the Fletcher's service writer that I paid $19 for the Groupon. And where was my 4 wheel alignment check report? He said he didn't do one. I said I only bought the Groupon because I wanted a wheel alignment check (I've ruined many tires not getting alignment checked, in the past) that was part of the oil change package. The service writer did not want to give me this alignment check because he said exactly these words: "If we did the check you wouldn't get an alignment here anyways so why should we waste our time giving you a check." I said "The Groupon said it includes an alignment check, and that is why I bought it." He kept accusing me of not wanting to get the alignment done at their shop. He repeatedly told me "If we do an alignment check, are you going to do the alignment with us, and not elsewhere?" He asked me those words at least 3 times, one after the other. I could tell he was trying to get me to say YES, before he would do my alignment check that was supposed to be part of the Groupon package with the oil change. But I did not fall for his getting me to promise I would do the alignment there. Instead I said, "How could I even decide that when I don't even know if it needs it or not, because you did not even print out an alignment report showing I need one. And told him I was upset that I paid $19 for the oil change, and when they drove my car to the other side of the building from where I came in, they were advertising it for $14.95 on their building wall". He said, "Well it is $17.95 now". I still overpaid for my Groupon, then, and did not get my wheel alignment checked. I did not do the alignment check because I had a bad feeling based on his attitude, that he would not do the alignment check unless I promised I would pay them for the alignment and not take my business elsewhere, that they could jimmy the readout numbers to show I needed an alignment, when I do not. They lost my trust. Anyhow, I left feeling very dissatisfied and feeling "gypped" with this particular purchase having paid $19 for $14.95 or 17.95 and didn't get my alignment check. Employee who changed my oil said, "Don't go through Groupon, call us first" (cos it turned out to be cheaper, not through Groupon). I feel that the Fletcher inflated the price to post on Groupon and did not perform what was represented on the Groupon. It gets worse. When I first brought my car in, I told them there was something wrong with the clutch, I sometimes could not shift, or the car would keep moving even after I shut off the engine, or clutch pedal sometimes had no pressure. Fletchers said that the slave cylinder was leaking. I asked THREE TIMES, "Are you SURE the clutch master cylinder isn't leaking?" The mechanic and the service writer ASSURED ME, THREE TIMES , that it was ONLY the slave cylinder, NOT the clutch master cylinder. So I trusted what Fletchers told me and purchased only the slave cylinder, and told my driveway mechanic I had for 10 years, that Fletchers assured me 3 TIMES that the clutch master cylinder was NOT leaking. So my mechanic and I believed what Fletchers told us without looking at it, and my mechanic only removed and replaced the slave cylinder I bought him from NAPA. I got a ride from a friend to go pick my car up, then drove it home OK. But the next day, every time I started my engine, the car leaped forward (almost crashing into my garage cabinets), or leaped backward, depending on whether I was in drive or reverse, and then the engine would die. I came to conclusion that I could not even get my car out of my garage, so I called a tow truck to tow it the 15 miles back to my mechanic. Tow truck driver said there was no pressure in the clutch pedal. Later my mechanic said that the clutch master cylinder was leaking, and the floor board behind the clutch pedal was all wet. Now why did Fletchers assure me that only the slave cylinder was leaking (they are in two separate places on this vehicle, not one on top of the other). Fletchers cost me stress, havoc, and a tow. I had to go buy the clutch master cylinder and drive another vehicle to deliver it to my mechanic, and get a ride from a friend again to go pick it up, all cos of Fletchers assuring me that it was not the clutch master cylinder. After clutch master was replaced everything was fine. I reported my experience to Groupon, and they refunded me my $19 I paid for the oil change. I am not saying all Fletchers locations are like this, but I WOULD NOT GO TO THIS FLETCHERS on 4301 E. Thomas, Phoenix. If you had my experiences, would YOU go there again? I am going to tell the Regional Manager to read my review.
