| - This place was RIDICULOUS. First of all, I think that they have incorporated some of the students from Voltige/Tornade, which is confusing. There is supposed to be a $20 haircut, but it apparently does not matter which 'tarif' level you sign up for, because you will end up paying what they want you to pay. I made an appointment, but when I showed up, they had absolutely no record of it. Completely unprofessional. So I make another appointment for the next day. I specified - haircut, student level, $20, no 'mise en plis' (styling). Just a cut.
I go back the next day. They assign me to a different person than originally appointed, but I assume that the price won't change. (You can see where this is going...right?) This new person, while washing my hair, convinces me that I really need to spring for the 'mise en plis' - which apparently means just blow-drying with a little mousse.
So, after taking some length off, she dries my hair and proceeds with the real cutting. Now the stylist informs me that "See, it's really worth paying to get your hair dried because it's a much better cut." Wait a sec...so you just had me pay EXTRA to return my hair to its natural state of dryness, so that YOU could give me a PROPER cut? Lady, I could have EASILY shown up with dry hair. Dry hair is the way I wake up in the morning. I would have even styled it for you, giving you a perfect canvas to work with, had I known that cutting wet hair is so difficult for a professionally trained stylist...
The haircut is fine, but I get to the cash and guess what? It's a $60 haircut and style. Completely going against what I had requested. I paid it - and tipped well, because I was not raised in a barn - and walked out furious.
And all of it would be worth the hassle if the haircut were, I dunno, life-changing-ly fabulous in some way. The haircut is fine, but it's not great.
I personally am NEVER going back. Lesson learned. But if you do go, MAKE SURE that you know what you are getting. This is definitely a francophone establishment, so have your customer service vocab ready to go. MAKE SURE that you are getting what you ask for.
