My husbands car was towed - his fault, but that has nothing to do with this post, surprisingly. When the car is towed, the police fill out an impound report stating what is in the car so that everyone is on the same page on what belongings are there. In our case, when he left his vehicle in their employees possession, the car was still on and running, his iPad was plugged and playing music and our personal papers were where we left them.
However, the Monday following (this happened on a Saturday morning), we were able to get the release paperwork needed and went to get our car (side note- only $45.00 is what we paid which was A LOT less than we thought it would be, so that is a positive). After our car was brought out, we immediately checked the entire thing, mainly looking for the iPad and it was gone. Completely and utterly gone. We checked everywhere, from under seats, to the truck, etc., and nothing. I went back inside and let them know our belongings had been stolen. I filled out the necessary paperwork with Matthew, in order to start a claim and sadly, we were on our way. Throughout the whole process of filing the claim, all of the employees were disregarding the fact that our iPad was stolen, and we shouldn't be "throwing around accusations when we don't know" - however, we do know and so does the police department. We then filed a claim with the police department after them confirming they did not take anything "into evidence" like All City's employee, Matthew, tried to make us believe. After about a week and a half, I received a letter requesting "Proof of ownership" of the items "we are claiming to be ours and stolen". Thankfully, I just bought the iPad for my husband for Christmas 2013 (this happened end of Oct 2014), and was able to get the receipt, and pulled pictures of him holding and using the iPad randomly. Still, we were made to feel like we were lying and none of their employees did anything wrong. We received a letter in the mail from their corporate wanting to settle with us and offered us $274 to do so, which was absolutely not going to happen. After FINALLY speaking to Jeff Dunn at their corporate, I realized why their employees act the way they do and are allowed to treat people such way; IT IS APPROVED BY THE HEAD PERSON! Mr. Dunn was nothing short of a narcissistic, self-centered, self-entitled prick when speaking to me over the phone (after numerous voice mails left for him, I still had to call back), demanding to know by background and why I think I know how his business should be run. Lets just say this, I paid $424 for the iPad, case, and warranty and they are wanting to settle with us for $274 -- does that seem appropriate?! Then after finding errors in his math, such a big boy he is, he upped it to $285- because $11 helps everything, right? Needless to say, we still haven't settled and I truely hope that Jeff Dunn gets a taste of his own medicine, and how he is a member on any type of board relating to the BBB blows my mind! Once he is gone, maybe they will fire and hire someone who knows what they are doing and knows how to speak to a grown adult LIKE A GROWN ADULT. Absolutely insane! For what it is worth, if you have any option on tow companies, usually you don't, try not to use them. The detective working on our case said he received a handful of claims on ACT within the same week and even the department knows how horrible they are.
