| - I wish I could give a NEGATIVE star. The worst experience I've ever had trying to buy a car. Clearly, they have no desire to sell cars or how to treat customers!
On December 29, CHIP, THE SALESMAN, was told that we needed a car asap, as my daughter will need it to drive back to NJ on FRIDAY MORNING, Jan 6th.. We saw the car on the internet for $12,988 and were ready to purchase the car. We were told the car would be ready to PICK UP ON TUESDAY, January 3rd.
Last minute, I look on the Keffer's dealer website, and see the car's internet price had been reduced to $12,788. I inquire about it, and CHIP, the salesman says, it doesn't apply to us because we are purchasing a CPO vehicle. Oh, okay. (Warning #1)
Then, I see on their website that you get a $100 gas card with purchase of car. But, no. According to CHIP, it did not apply to the car we were buying. Really? (Warning #2)
My daughter needed the car, and I was willing to just buy it. My husband puts down a $500 deposit. The dealer would not take a credit card, only debit card. (Warning #3)
.
So, on December 30th, I receive a call from Justin, the Finance Manager who tells me they are over-nighting an envelope with the docs I need to sign. However, don't do anything until I call him so we can go over the contents together.
On December 31st, , nothing arrives. I text Justin letting him know the envelope did not come. I get no answer. I call the dealership, hoping to get a tracking number, no one can take my call. I'm getting nervous now, because of the time restraints on the car delivery.
On January 2nd, still no package delivered. I text Justin. No answer. I call Justin, no answer AND his voice mailbox is full. No way to leave a message. (Warning #4)
On Tuesday, January 3rd, the day my daughter was to pick up the car at Keefer, the envelope arrives in NJ. I do as Justin said, and call to have him go over the contents with me. I also had questions about the CPO warranty, as they only included 3 month DEALERSHIP warranty on the car, and not the manufacturer's CPO warranty that we were paying for! Again...same scene of no answers to calls, texts, emails all day long. (Warning #5)
Finally, around 5pm, my husband gets through via email to the internet manager, who apologizes, and tells him he will call me. He says that someone will call me either that night, or the next morning between 9 & 9:30am. He said he'd text me which it would be.... NEVER GOT THE TEXT. No calls either. (Warning #6)
Wednesday, January 4th, and it's looking impossible for my daughter to have this car by Thursday the 5th, so she can drive back to NJ on the morning of Friday the 6th..
At 9am, Jan 4th, we start to call the dealership once again asking for assistance.... NO ONE TO HELP US. Finally, at 3:30 pm, I spoke with Brandon, another Finance person, and told him we were done with this purchase. There was no way we'd be able to get this deal done in time for my daughter to drive back to NJ, and quite frankly, we did not want to go through with the sale anymore. If it was this difficult to buy a car from this dealership, one can only imagine the hell it would be to have anything serviced!
At 5:30 pm, on January 4th, Brandon confirms with me that he's issued a refund of our deposit. Finally, I think I'm done with these people.......
UPDATE January 5th: Today, I get a phone call from CHIP, the phantom salesman who we've not heard from him since DECEMBER 29TH . Yes, the same CHIP who would not return any calls, emails or texts. Apparently, news spread of my refusal to sign any paperwork to buy the car. He got irate with me telling me the car was ready for pick up on Tuesday. When I asked him HOW the car was ready for pick up when I had not even received the papers to sign until Tuesday morning in NJ, he had no comprehensible answer.
He told me that he would not refund my deposit, even though we did not sign any paperwork to purchase a car! So then he said, "well, we're going to charge you a restocking fee". I explained that it was not acceptable, that three members of my family, myself included, have tried over and over to communicate with ANYONE who could help us with regard to misrepresentations on the paperwork I had received. I told him that I expected my whole deposit back because the dealership dropped the ball on this deal, not us. Chip said, "good luck with that", and hug up. (Warning #7)
Later this evening, CHIP called to say he would give us back our deposit, MINUS the cost of the TWO overnight envelopes. I explained that one envelope arrived not two. His answer was, "we'll there was a return envelope in there". I told him he was mistaken, They did not include a return envelope. He accused me of arguing with him, and that he would hang up on me. I asked him to have his manager call me to discuss. That was 4 hours ago. The dealership is closed now. The manager never called.... (Warning #8)
