  • Phenomenal! Epic! Spectacular! Words....all just words.... I feel like I can't even begin to write a review that captures the emotion that this show evoked in me! There are certain memories from childhood that stick with you all the way to adulthood. You know what I'm talking about - the memories that you can see in your head as if it were yesterday. You know who you were with, exactly where you were, what you were wearing, what you said and most importantly, what you FELT. One of those memories for me was my mom taking me to a store (which no longer exists) that had a kids clothing department. Growing up, I got new clothes twice a year. The week before school started and at Easter. This wasn't the week before school started and it wasn't Easter, but I saw something that I just HAD to have. It was a black shirt, with white, pearly, shiny sequins in the shape of Michael Jackson's glove. Well, I begged and begged and begged my mom, and she finally gave in and I walked out of that store the happiest little girl anyone ever did see! I probably wore that shirt everyday to school to the point where my teacher's probably wondered if my mom ever did laundry. So what does this have to do with Michael Jackson One? Everything! The only way I can express my excitement for this show was to equate it to that day that I walked out of that department store with my new Michael Jackson tshirt! If you are going in, expecting a true Cirque de Soleil experience, you will probably be disappointed. The cirque portion of this show was very minimal, and only mildly impressive. But the show in it's entirety is an experience like none other! There are holograms, dancing, comedy, lights, rain, fireworks, shadow shows, and of course MUSIC! The music really took me back to my childhood and I was practically sitting on the edge of my seat wishing I could just jump up and get on stage with everyone! When THRILLER came on, you better believe I was doing the motions in my seat! I expected to see a great show, but what I wasn't expecting was the emotions that came over me with each different song. And the ending...well, I don't want to spoil it in case you don't yet know, but let's just say there were tears. Good tears. There is so much more I could tell you about the show, but really, you should just go and experience it for yourself. If you are wavering on whether or not to see Michael Jackson one, waver no more and just GO SEE IT! Michael's world was a mysterious, unique, dark, exciting and beautiful one and you will get to experience just the tiniest tip of the surface of it in ONE moment in time. GO SEE IT!
