| - NEVER sign up for Time Warner Cable. NEVER. Listen to these awful reviews and go with someone else.
Time Warner Cable has got to be the worst company that exists. I have been through a ridiculous amount just to get cable installed. When it was finally installed, I still had issues. I call them almost daily at this point. They have made me cry at this point it's been so frustrating and such a horrible experience. I invested so much time, it didn't seem worth it to cancel, but I really wish I had canceled before I wasted too much time.
Here's my story:
I'm new to the area, so I google cable and got time warner cable. I signed up for a promotional package around $100/month, which I was happy with and scheduled an installation date. I waited around for the technician, and he didn't show up in the window they gave me. I called time warner, and they said he should be there soon, but they'd send him a message. I waited around longer, and he didn't show up still. I called back, and they said he put in a notification that I wasn't home, which was a complete lie. I rescheduled, for 2 days later and was told they'd waive the $30 appointment fee. Great - no internet and TV for another 2 days. So, I leave work early for a second time to meet the next technician and he actually showed up. But, it quickly went downhill from there. Long story short, he was at my house for a total of 6 hours. He spent about 3 hours running around the house looking for who knows what, and eventually called his boss. At this point, it was 7 PM. His boss came and took a look and told him what to do. Around 9 PM he comes in from outside, and starts tinkering around. Around 9:30, he has a cable box and modem in my house, but nothing is hooked up and he's been at my house since 3:45 PM. I get a call on my cell phone, and it is for the technician. Weird to say the least. So, he talks to the guy for way to long - it would be more appropriate to tell the guy he'd call him on his own cell phone, but whatever. It's getting late, and he walks outside. After about 15 - 20 minutes, he doesn't come back. My husband goes outside to check on him, because it's getting close to 10 PM and we want to get to bed. The guy is packing up his truck. Apparently he got fired for taking too long to install. So, he leaves. We still have no cable or internet, no clue what shape he left his work in. At this point, I'm furious. But I wasted 6 hours sitting around at home already so I decide not to cancel. I call Time Warner to complain and all they can offer is a reschedule and say a Time Warner technician will come out instead of the contract company.
So, the next day, I leave work for a 3rd time (first week on the new job, not something I wanted to be doing). Another technician comes out and spends about an hour installing and we are finally hooked up. The other guy apparently was a huge idiot and had no idea what he was doing. These guys fixed his mistake and got us hooked up. But still, I have now invested 10 hours of my time to watch some TV - way too much.
2 days later, we try to watch TV and realize the cable box is a piece of junk. I now have to go into the store and exchange it.
A few days later, I get a bill in the mail. A bill for $250! Insane. Apparently the promotion I signed up for was not what was entered. So now I spend an hour on the phone negotiating my bill. They aren't able to get the exact promotion I signed up for, but it's close. But I still spent an additional hour on the phone.
