| - The five stars is for SIOUX, the massage therapist.
I like deep tissue and it's rare that the therapists use exactly the right amount of pressure. I'm kinda the Goldilocks of Massage, "too hard, too soft." always looking for "just right." Sioux was very intuitive. There were NO weird moments where I thought, oh, what's that, or my monkey brain was nudging me to "Ask for harder pressure!!!" Nope, SIOUX totally quieted my monkey brain and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. She even used a few techniques that seemed so obvious but that no one has ever used on me. She was very professional and took her craft seriously.
I made an appointment for an 80 minute aromatherapy massage but after a brief assessment about all my neck and shoulder tension, she suggested the arnica massage treatment. So, I trusted her and switched. It was a good choice, I would definitely go back the next time I am in town. (I actually tried to get an appointment 2 days after, but she was off that day.)
The front desk clerk was a bit of a snot. If it weren't for the stellar SIOUX, this review would be one star and all about just how snotty the desk clerk was. The food at the spa pool was also subpar (burned chicken on the cobb salad), but the waitstaff was attentive and nice. The spa tubs weren't hot enough, the unisex tub was (though sitting in it I noticed dust bunnies at eye level under all the furniture), etc. But despite all this, I would go back if SIOUX was available.
