| - I found myself at Zada Jane's last weekend after failing to find gluten-free options for my sister at another breakfast locale. So, Zada Jane's does have gluten-friendly going for them (our waitress really was very knowledgeable about gluten).
Overall though, I was not impressed with the cafe. We waited for a table (that's fine, brunch is popular), but I honestly don't understand why so many people were there. The food is mediocre, albeit priced affordably. And the service was very, very slow without any explanation or warning that there would be a wait. My understanding is that this is normally a popular breakfast/brunch spot, so I would think they would be used to the volume. However, all three individuals in my party ordered a basic breakfast plate and we waited an hour for our food to come out.
After waiting an hour, I was unimpressed to find that my sweet potatoes were under-cooked. They had great potential as a dish, but it turns out not-so-great when they're a little crunchy. Thankfully I like my biscuits under-cooked, so my doughy, fluffy biscuit was a two thumbs up. The eggs were fine, but the soysage was actually worse than the frozen kind I buy at the grocery store.
Honestly, the price is so great compared to the mass of snooty brunch places in town that I may come back when I need that basic breakfast fix. But if you're looking for a decent culinary experience, I would look elsewhere.
