  • I was shocked to see I had never reviewed this restaurant. It is my favorite restaurant in Madison, hands down. Their food is absolutely consistent. If it is delicious today it will be exactly the same in a year. The servings are generous and very reasonably priced. The service is amazing. The restaurant is spotless, including the bathroom. The food is cooked to perfection. The chicken is never overcooked. Spices are used carefully, never overpowering. When I leave the restaurant I feel full but never "stuffed". The meals are healthy, beautiful to look at and expertly prepared. The "no frills" decor suits me fine. I hope the owner has a succession plan. I rue the day he decides to retire. I also fear he will be pushed out as State St is gentrified. To me that would be an arrow in my heart. Eat there now. Who knows what the future will bring.
