| - This was my first stay at NYNY and it was okay, a good choice for a central location. However, there were a few things I noticed that you might want to also take note of:
My room was on the 35th floor, quite high and looking down on the roller coaster. I certainly didn't think there would be any noise whatsoever from the roller coaster, being as high up as I was. Oddly, around 10pm when I went to bed, I heard a "whosssing" noise and couldn't imagine what it was. Realized it was noise from the roller coaster. It was enough that it did keep me awake. I could hear the riders screaming as they whooshed past. Needless to say, I was very surprised that any noise from the ride would go that far up or could be heard at the 35th floor, but it did penetrate. This went on til 11pm when it stopped (I guess the ride closes at that time?) Anyway, it wasn't a huge problem or issue, just one to take note of and be aware of.
The room itself was fine, although the bathtub/shower didn't have any sort of handrail, grip bar, or anything. Such a thing should be standard these days, not just in handicapped rooms or whatever. And the rim of the tub was kind of high (not easy to get in and out of). Other than that, there were no problems with the room, the view was okay, and the windows were clean to see out of. (some people have complained of the windows being dirty, but that wasn't the case in my room). A/C was good, carpet was clean, A-Okay for the room itself. Mattress was a little firm for my taste, but nothing that was objectionable. Naturally, as usual for Vegas hotel rooms, no fridge or microwave. (they want you down there paying for every drink, Starbucks coffee, etc. not heating up leftovers from dinner or making your own inexpensive coffee lol)
Next issue: smokey. I've been in several casinos, but this one just seemed somewhat smokier. It was very crowded, lots of people there, and felt like the casino floor was too cramped or packed with machines, so if someone does smoke (one guy near me was puffing on a big cigar), it can get rather bothersome.
It was fairly easy to get around this hotel. You can get on and off the elevators without swiping your room card which is nice (but also means anyone, whether a guest or not, can get on an elevator and go up to the guest rooms). The only confusing thing might be that it's divided into several floors, but once you learn your way around, it's pretty easy. Just don't forget to explore the whole area. I thought I'd seen the entire place, and then realized I hadn't even been on the second floor!
I didn't sample any of the pricier sit-down restaurants in NYNY, so can't review those. Mainly ate at the food court areas and at the America restaurant. There's a fairly good mix of dining, although nothing really grabbed my attention, that I would want to spend a lot of $$$ there on the mix of restaurants at NYNY.
I didn't use parking, so can't review how the garage or valet service worked. I used Uber to and from the hotel. The uber pick up spot is out front, you will see a sign that directs you to the pick up area.
Would I stay here again? Probably not. Not because it was bad or unacceptable there, just didn't grab me that much. I think it's a good value on the Strip, price wise and location in proximity to other hotels and things to do. I would recommend NYNY, especially for somewhat better pricing than I could find elsewhere.
