  • Myself, my fiance, my housemate, his fiance, and two co-workers all signed up for this gym within 24 hours of one another and have all had some good and some bad experiences. While the gym has never been exceptionally crowded except for the 5:30pm rush, it seems they are lacking on a few pieces of equipment. Before even heading into the gym now, I can pretty much guess which machines/equipment are going to essentially have a line, but it doesn't take much to work around that and everyone seems okay with changing out during sets. My suggestion here would be to dump some of the random machines near the spin class room and toss in a few more racks/cages. Another minor qualm is the "core/stretching" area. There is not room to do much and there were six ab machines (four now) that dominated the area and were sparsely used. Not having enough room to actually stretch out my legs or get in some core stuff gets old pretty fast, but obviously a big flat area is probably not much of a selling point for managers. The final qualm was with some membership costs we were all hit with. Half of us purchased our memberships online during a promotional period but were denied the promotion ($10 a month instead of $20) no matter what we told the manager even though we went into the gym 15 minutes after our purchase. Our only option was to cancel our accounts for $35 and wait 30 days (a security measure to ensure that current members do not cancel their memberships anytime a new promotion happens). Part of the online family promotion and the in-person promotion that our other friends got was a $1 dollar intro fee. This is basically just a lie (sorry guys I have to call it what it is). All they do is take your introductory fee and then add it to your next billing period. We double checked with our paperwork, it does not say anywhere that we would be hit with almost $120 in additional fees the first billing cycle for our group plan. This may sound like a long complaint, but I really don't look for much in a gym so I am not super unhappy. Some places to warmup, no lines for the more popular machines, and a good mix of free weights and machines that don't get bogged down. It was really the way we were treated with the memberships that rubbed us the wrong way. Six of us joined initially due to the fact that the company we work for just moved here. We were going to bring in pretty much every coworker we had (mostly because we heard we got free clothes/gear for every person we brought in), but we can't really justify suggesting this place to 10 or 15 more people due to the membership problems. I am rating it as a two star shop simply because I still go there and it would seem unethical for me to rate something I go to daily as 1 star. I'd probably bump this up to a 4 or 4.5 star rating if the fees were a bit clearer. Honestly, we have no problems paying an initiation fee....just be honest about it and don't hide it in the fine print.
