| - What's this??
Not sure whose idea it was to make the concession area into a cafeteria style arrangement, but damn this place is equal parts confusing and uninviting. It exhibits all the warmth and personality of a check-in counter at the airport. When did this "serve yourself" method become a consideration for customer service, particularly for those who're paying what they're paying for ticket/concession prices today. I GET IT: it expedites the concessions process by making it a big "grab and go" deal, which likely minimizes lost revenue from those patrons who'd rather not stand in long lines to get popcorn, blah, blah, blah. I get it - gotta make that money.
But, damn.
We went for an evening show and it was clear they were already breaking the concession stand down for the evening. Popcorn bins which house the different flavors of popcorn were empty, with pre-filled bags standing under heat lamps.
Visually, the central focal point of the back service area is a door - which leads to the employee area behind concession - that's been scraped to hell. Excessive wear-and-tear for a newly remodeled area. It's a minor critique, but one would expect AMC to take more pride in its appearance.
The hallway to the theater looked like they hadn't been swept since the previous showing let out. Popcorn trails led into each theater, which I'm assuming was so patrons could find their way back to the lobby after the movie ended? Maybe?
My first job as a teen was at an AMC theater (1980s), and I remember how detail oriented the company was at the time; how warm and welcoming experience was for the patron. Now, it seems they've adopted a "you're on your own" attitude in regards to the movie-going experience. I have a nostalgic affinity for AMC Theaters, otherwise I would have never offered a critique. AMC should be the measure of excellence in the industry and not just a ho hum multiplex to catch the latest flick. You can do better, AMC.
I don't know. Maybe it was an off night.
