  • I live right across the street, and I've indefinitely boycotted it after many months of waiting for them to get their produce section together. To forsake convenience like this is not typical behavior for me. They just don't have fresh produce consistently. I've accidentally bought moldy tomatoes (the kind in a box so you can't see the tops), or just not bought produce on my list because their selection is mushy or ready to turn. I have had a hard time finding firm onions, and onions last a million years. Other complaints: many other areas of the store aren't cared for frequently or well enough and often have products past their expiry date on the shelf (eggs!), and the layout of the store is a little cumbersome. The checkout lines are all consolidated at first, with cashiers calling you out to approach them. This would be fine in theory, but the line forms in front of the bread, bagels, etc., as well as being a key access point to the rest of the store. It can often be cramped or chaotic. I was really excited when this Sobey's first opened and gave it dozens of grocery trips these past five or six months. With a decent Metro just an escalator ride away in College Park, it's well in to DO NOT WANT territory for me.
