| - We were looking for a casual, family friendly Italian spot for dinner and chose this place after reading the reviews. We were not disappointed. Very nice decor - the wood fired pizza oven between the bar and the dining room is a nice, rustic touch.
Hubby and I really enjoyed the herbed rolls and olive oil that comes complimentary - the kid not so much, so we ordered garlic cheese bread. Since the kid wanted to skip the cheese, they added extra slices of the bread. That was much appreciated. The rooms and the bread were flavorful, soft and warm. I started with the caprese (mozzarella & tomato appetizer on the menu), as that is always my measure of an Italian place. The tomatoes were ripe and the mozzarella very flavorful. I did have to add balsamic, as it only comes dressed with olive oil.
The kid chose spaghetti with meat sauce (and a meatball). He liked the meatball a lot, though he complained the meat sauce was "spicy." The meat in the sauce did have a kick, so heads up if you have a kid in your party that's weird about stuff like that.
Hubby had rigatoni with a bolognese sauce (he added ricotta) that he enjoyed. The meat in the bolognese had the same spice kick, but Hubby is a grown up and loved it. I ordered the cheese ravioli with a butter and sage sauce (you get a choice of sauces). It was amazing! The butter sauce was a thin cream type sauce. I expected the sage to be fried crispy, but it was not. No matter, it was a terrific dish.
Definitely a good place to enjoy a good Italian meal with the family. I wouldn't suggest it as a romantic date night spot though, it's much too loud on a busy night.
