I really wanted to go 4-stars, I really did. If there were half stars, this would be solid 3.5.
Every time my coworkers get Rito's takeout there's a buzz around the office, aroma of delicious chili and for the first time all day complete silence on the floor...but I'm not sure it lived up to the hype entirely.
My first piece of advice was delivered with a VERY serious face, "It's in the ghetto. Do. Not. Stay. There. You MUST take it to go."
OK, people, 14th St. and Roosevelt is NOT the ghetto. Maybe it's because I live downtown and the first time I lived alone I had to honk at the sleeping bum to roll out of my parking spot...but seriously, this place was clean enough and had a cute little "patio" with picnic tables filled with lunching professionals...which isn't always a good sign.
I ordered the green combo beef/bean enchilada style. Why not go the gusto? We waited less than 10 minutes and had piping hot food all the way back to the office.
The presentation was exactly what I expected; a full burrito slathered in melted cheese and swimming in red sauce. The flavors were pretty good and the meat surprisingly tender. The tortilla was soggy in the right spots and held up to all the sauce.
I have to admit I ate all of it but I may still be paying the price...trying to rally the 3pm lull is tough after a lunch like that and dinner is impossible.
It was good but I'm not sure it lives up to the hype or chant.
