| - Color Me Mine is a place I have been going to since I was young, but it is not since recently that I tried the new South Hills location. I always find the place clean with open tables, though it feels a bit cramped at times if it gets busy with people walking around. A couple staff members are really nice and encouraging, but others don't make going here a pleasant experience. I was doing a rather large piece when one of the staff members said to me after my piece was done that the white design was not going to show up over the black background. Another staff member said I would be fine and reassured me that my piece would look awesome when glazed. When I got it back after being glazed, it was perfect, so the comment that I was initially told was wrong! The staff isn't always helpful or friendly here, which doesn't make for the best painting experience, but as long as you enjoy painting, it is easy to overlook this! This painting experience is not cheap and it is not something most people will do often, so you should at least feel welcomed by staff when you do go. There was only 1 staff member that was really nice, friendly and helpful when I went, which I totally appreciated. Other than that, it is a fairly nice place to paint. It is situated in the mall, so it can be noisy and distracting (especially if there is a kid's party). The bisque can cost anywhere from $14 for a small piece to $35+ for a larger piece. The studio fee is $9 each time you go so you want to plan a day where you have a good couple of hours to paint. You have full reign over the paints, so you have the freedom to express your artistic abilities without feeling like you have to ask to use materials. The way your piece looks before and after it gets glazed is like night and day! It goes from dry and matte to shiny and beautiful! You leave your finished piece at Color Me Mine and they glaze it for you, which takes about a week to get back. It is fun to unwrap your piece and see it perfected! Definitely check out this place, you will enjoy creating a masterpiece of your own!
