This cafe stands out if only for one reason: one cup of their drip coffee could awaken an entire streetcar full of morning commuters. It's strong compared to most cafes in the US, which was a pleasant surprise.
Thankfully, they have many other reasons to stand out. The cheddar rosemary biscuit with ham that I ordered was well crafted and had a delightful balance of flavors. Take It to the Bridge has quite a few ingredients that pack a punch on their own. Together, the combination is sublime. The stuffed flapjack successfully held itself together without being dry or unevenly cooked, which is my experience trying similar dishes at other cafes; this one has none of those problems.
There are many spots to sit and take things in. As noted in another review, that is a shame since the one hour parking in the lot immediately next to the cafe is an impediment to doing so. I may not live in Charlotte, but I will definitely return the next time I am in town.
