| - Was feeling depressed in the morning, so after work I decided to go on one of my random drug free adventures.
Thanks to Daniel S. for another great recommendation! There was another group of yelpers at the park who said they read the reviews about the bighorn sheep, and that's why they came all the way over from the Centennial area. I told them that Daniel S. was a good friend of mine and that I came here because of his review. They asked me what my yelp name was, and I told them I was Bobby Y.
I live in Summerlin and it only took 35 minutes to drive here today. For some reason it takes me 45 minutes to drive to Costco, but it only takes 35 minutes to drive to the Lake Mead area. I don't know what I'm doing wrong?
As a child my favorite movie was Chirin No Suzu(aka Ringing Bell) which was about an innocent baby lamb who grew up to be a vicious killer because he couldn't recover from the memories of his mother being murdered. In Japan, this movie had a G-rating, but in America it got pulled off the shelves because it gave children nightmares and post traumatic stress disorder. I watched that movie when I was 5 years old, and since then I have had somewhat a phobia of rams and their sharp horns. Today, I had a fun time watching the lambs and ewes play. Then the ram showed up, and believe me I ran for my f*cking life.
Watching the sheep is truly fascinating. There are many large vertical canyons near the park. Yet, within seconds the sheep effortlessly climb the steep walls.
Like Daniel mentioned, this is the best time to come because there are lambs everywhere. Don't get too close because the rams watch you like a hawk.
In conclusion, the Ram is very protective of the ewes and lambs. Once he makes eye contact with you, he will follow you around until you completely leave the area. Don't f*ck with this guy, he is pretty mean.
UPDATE- 6-9-2013- A large family of mean spirited people were having a picnic here and throwing rocks, sticks, and objects at the sheep. They were Spanish speakers who didn't understand English so they didn't read the signs that warned that abusing the animals could give them jail time. Another family called the police, but before they showed up one ram chased the overweight man a couple feet before he tripped and fell over. He got lucky that he didn't get killed.
