| - I've been wanting to come to this festivals for two years now. I'm not a vegetarian but I don't eat a lot of meat so that's why I decided to check it out. It was a nice warm saturday early afternoon and the place is not packed. A little music and a couple rows of tents, mostly baked goods and promotions, not meals.
I tried some samosas from an indian tent which was good, though some of the stuff are over seasoned, it's either really salty or really sweet. Tried lots of free samples and chocolates, am already familiar with most brands. I really thought that there would be more choices for foods. I came here for lunch and see nothing but cupcakes and granola. There are kebabs, nachos and burritos, but still limited to my liking.
I have had tofurky before in burger form and was delicious, but at the tent, they served "sausages" in tomato sauce and though it tastes like meat, the texture was like marshmallow, and I don't like my meat or meat-like foods mushy like that.
I also gave a apple sage pastry wrap a try from apiecalypse. Pretty pricey, $3.50 for a 2-3 bite thing. The pastry was weird- it was sugary like caramel and brown sugar but inside is like meat jerky which changes flavour as you eat. It was gross and i didn't want to finish it.
not many things to do at the festival either. My friend and i ended up walking along the harbourfront water instead. Fairly disappointed in the turnout, I would much rather go to a larger festival with more variety like the taste of danforth.
