  • Perhaps I like the Varsity because it is in close proximity to another store: Indigo. It's great to be able to buy tickets and lounge about Indigo and catch up on new book titles. Most all other things about the theatre are similar to any other theatre in the city, like, same concession stuff, same protocol of ripping tickets and directing traffic, probably same carpet choices, and high quality sound and picture. What stands out in experience (and price) is the VIP theatres, where you have tables in between a two person cozier seat setup and high schoolers come in and take your order. It's a little absurd really, but good for a lark/ a take on romance. It is good for more room I suppose, but the regular set up (these days with tiered seating and ample foot space) suits me just fine. One of the cashiers, was nice enough to point out that I had sufficient points on my SCENE card (a points card offered by a Scotiabank) to get some free movies. (I think I was paying for the experience with my debit card, a SCENE card and so she checked somehow). Anyhow, we got everything for free and discounted refreshments. Also, the Varsity is a good mixture of indie films, and Hollywood fare.
