  • First things first, the shuttle. They actually have a few shuttles that run from the hotel every half hour, on the hour. You have to call them WHEN you're ready to be picked up, they will not wait on you. I called from the terminal, bag in hand and was told they would be there in 5 minutes. I literally immediately made my way to the specific north side door and waited 10 minutes. I finally called and was told that he pulled up 15 minutes prior, didn't see anyone and drove off. Sorta aggravating in the Arizona heat. The hotel itself is known to be one of the best in Tempe. I still wouldn't say it was a 5-star hotel. A few minor things, like scuffs on the walls, hard water stains in the bathroom, and the broken elevator for days. Not a huge deal, just not things of a typical 5-star hotel. The number one thing I care about... was it clean? Yes. The bed was comfy, linens and towels were pristine. I did opt to have my room cleaned each day and as I passed the service crew in the hall each morning, I noticed different people each time. So, if you're already not a fan of your room being cleaned or a stranger going in and out of your room each day (as my friend was) then you might find it odd that over a five day period five people probably went in and out. Note to hotel: assign the same people. There are at least two dining options on property. Room service comes from Missions Grill. The first couple of nights I ordered room service, the turkey club to be exact. Yes, both times. There was a $3 room service room (I think it was) as well as an expectancy of gratuity. What can I say? I was tired. My room had a balcony that overlooked the pavilion area where a lot of people from the two conferences going on, congregated early each morning. It didn't really bother me since I was up each morning, but if you're in for a trip of tranquility, you may get to request this sort of room. It's super close to the Valley Metro (train/light rail) line. But I was told that if the shuttle isn't busy, they would take you to places nearby other than just the airport.
