rev:text	The Good: 5 minute walk to the MGM and Vegas strip. There's a 24 hour diner even closer that has great eats and friendly service. Their burgers and breakfast are top notch. Right next to the diner are two 24 hour convenience stores that sell basic groceries, liquor, etc. The motel is generally pretty quiet, unless you get rowdy neighbors, which I didn't experience. Rooms are tidy and clean, and service was generally OK. Also, no bedbugs during my stay. Shower had good pressure and temperature. The motel has free ice machines and soda/snacks for purchase. The Not So Good: Room decor is outdated and the carpeting is worn and a bit stained in some spots. There is a somewhat musty atmosphere because there is inadequate ventilation. Windows don't open for security purposes. Leaving the door open for a little while helps, but not much since there isn't another opening anywhere else in the room for a cross-breeze. Keeping the door open is not always an option (privacy, weather, etc). There is no mini fridge although you can purchase a disposable Styrofoam cooler from the nearby convenience stores. There is no concealed clothing storage for longer stays, so you'll have to live out of your suitcase to some degree. Just a few hangers and a small rack in the bathroom area. The area directly surrounding the motel is also a bit sketchy, with a huge vacant lot in front that attracts the homeless and drunks, so I wouldn't recommend this hotel for lone female travelers or anyone who is easily intimidated. Overall: If you're looking to experience Vegas on a budget, the Howard Johnson fits the bill. It's part of a cluster of Motels near the main strip that are all significantly cheaper than any of the larger resort/casinos. If you can overlook its shortcomings, it's a decent experience.
