  • Exceptional idea, administrated poorly. **VERY IMPORTANT NOTE - The moment you initiate a conversation, you will be ON THE CLOCK** The concept is great, shop is clean, mechanics are nice, price points are more than fair... if it weren't for a hidden twist. I arranged a high end tow from a company that takes great pride and care in their work. They are extremely patient and cautious with all vehicles they service to avoid any unnecessary minute damage and to place the owner in a place of elevated comfort knowing thier pride and joy will be "A-OK." After all, a 1-way tow costs $125.00 from them. As for this shop... I brought my own tools and required the use of none of theirs. I asked maybe 2 questions (simple confirmation) the time I was taking care of my own service. The tech was cool and bored so he just jumped in (not required, but I felt no reason to say no; cool guy). I looked at my watch the moment I picked up a tool to begin work. The moment I started my car, I looked at my watch again and approximately 65 minutes had passed. Here's the catch/dinger... I was quoted $20/hr working on the vehicle and $15 extra /hr if assistance was required. 65 min, you would think $20 and I had no problem paying an extra $15 for the company... so $35. Well, I was charged 2 hours. Taken back, I note that I had the work timed to about 65 minutes. I find out that the 35 minutes the tow driver took carefully unloading the very low vehicle, this shop charged for. Not only did I pay $125 for the tow, but the shop charged me an additional hour (plus assistance fee; +$35) for my car to be unloaded, THEN pushed into the shop. I called the tow company that has all their times documented to the second. I asked if the shop would like to speak with them to confirm as the shop did not believe it took that long. It would have easily been known had they bothered to look into their shop. Anyway, the shop said, "No thanks, and now you've been using up more time." Talk about poor business practice and customer service. Had I known all seconds were being counted, I would have gone to the bathroom down the street at McDonalds. I was later told time is rounded up. So to avoid telling me (trying to save face) I was charged for my car being unloaded, I was now told they round up the time by the hour (ie - 61min = 120min charge). In the end, lesson learned. I REALLY thought I found a great place to tell my car clubs about... We'll, I won't entirely say "No" to using them, just "Proceed With Caution." If used, make sure to get your start and end times signed off on so you'll know exactly what to expect. Being charged by the minute for touching my own car to get it into the shop was not explained, nor expected, to have fees involved. Ridiculous business practice. * Shop reps' names purposely not mentioned out of courtesy. ** 5-stars if not for being mislead. Should have apologized for not being clear. I would have gladly accepted the policy moving forward. That would equate to excellent word of mouth. Valuing a few extra bucks over 5-star service... you see what that gets 'ya.
