| - Of the top 3 (IMHO) Asian groceries in the Strip District (Wing Fat Hong, Lotus Foods, and Many More Asian Market), I always choose this place first if I think they'll have what I need, as its location slightly off the beaten path in the Strip means parking in its small lot is a breeze. I always hit up the produce section, which is well-labeled (THANK YOU) and well-priced. They don't always have every Asian green I'm looking for, but that's because I'm picky and weird--the selection is pretty decent.
Beyond that, they carry your typical selection of dried goods, Asian condiments, and a very impressive Ramen and noodle selection that takes up a whole aisle of the store alone. There is always a bin of fresh tofu at an impressively cheap price.
However, my favorite feature by far is the pay-by-weight selection of bin fish balls for hot pot int he back of the store. Yes, bin fish balls. Like bin candy but fishier and more frozen. There are something like 20 different types, some of which rotate in and out, although the staples are always there. Fish balls with pork filling, beef balls filled with more beef, beef tendon balls, fish tofu, lobster balls, shrimp balls--for $5 and some change per pound, you can fill a bag to mix and match. It's not the cheapest price for machine-pounded reject fish parts, but it's a delicious selection, and it sure beats buying the tiny prepackaged bags of standard fish balls. Come check it out. Do it. And if you have no idea what I'm talking about, then definitely come buy some fish balls and baby bok choy and have yourself a homemade Chinese hot pot. Clear broth, full hearts, can't lose.
