We had dinner last night at the Coronado Cafe. Had the porterhouse special for 14.95. The dinner was good except the steaks. Over cooked but the real issue was they were lacking juice. Dry, unappealing but tasted good. They had great flavor because they were seasoned perfectly. But the neat was dry indicating they had been frozen for a period of time or the meat was old possibly. We ate them because we were hungry, but I wouldn't recommend them. The service was great, and the rest of the meal deserved 4 stars but the steaks, porterhouses, the best cut on the cow, were only 2 stars. Thought about sending them back but was too hungry and not wanting a fuss on this night. We did win $400 overall on the slots so the night was a good one. The hotel is a good one though. We always enjoy the South Point. We are locals sort of. We have our vacation home here and have lived here before so we know what is good and what is not in Vegas.
Update: had dinner in the Mexican restaurant a few nights ago and the buffet on my birthday. Both were ok. Mexican is so bland and unauthentic. Too Americanized. Salsa is bland, meats are unseasoned and dry. The cut of prime rib I got on my birthday was outstanding. Went to play poker at the bars, at one the service was outstanding even with max players, however at the other bar the 3 bartenders left me hangin for over 15 minutes before anyone asked if I wanted a drink. I only drink ginger ales. Geeze. They were busy doing dishes so that's probably why and talking with other customers. The place is getting a run down appearance and stale. Was much better in years past. We live here in Vegas so we have been to most casinos. The valet service is one of the best in town.
