  • This is my favorite of the many Cirque du Soleil shows I have seen, eclipsing Beatles Love and the exquisite O. Anyone who experienced the Michael Jackson phenomenon will not leave untouched. The most moving segment was "Stranger in Moscow" which I now think may be MJ's best written song. He wrote this as the torture of the child abuse allegations had begun. He was on tour (Dangerous, later cancelled when the media firestorm grew too great) in Moscow, frightened, angry, and lonely. As a wintry scene unfolds on stage, snow begins falling on the audience. Images of MJ form then dissipate. Tears streamed down my face as I connected with the horrible strain he must have been under. Kudos to the Cirque collaborators for bringing this home. The rest of the show hits many high marks but nothing like the punch of Stranger in Moscow. At its worst you are watching circus acts performed to great music. At its best you got the combination of story, physical feats, and technical wizardry to pull off one hell of a show. It's well worth the money.
