  • Always looking for a good gyro. Given that Halal Guys is buzzy new addition to the Phoenix area, I wanted to give it a try. There are several places to get a solid gyro in the S Tempe, W Chandler, Ahwatukee area, so how'd they stack up? Poorly. I ordered the simply gyro sandwich. Unfortunately, the amount of meat they put on is pitiful. It really looked pathetic. I went with traditional toppings - tomatoes and onions. I went with their white sauce. The majority of the sandwich was comprised of the fluffy pita. The meat itself wasn't bad. But it was lost in a mouthful of pita. It seemed like ordered pita with a small side of meat. So any goodness from the meat just got drowned out. Considering the cost of the gyro, I was quite disappointed with Halal Guys. I'll be sticking with the local King for gyros...
