| - It's just too old and too tired.
When I visited the Coliseum recently for a screening of Suicide Squad (spoiler: it sucks), I was struck by how little the theatre seems to have been maintained over the years. It has the feeling of a half-price theater, yet still charges exorbitant prices for tickets and its staff generally look like they'd rather be somewhere else.
There's only so much you can do with a place like this, and yet, it feels like it's being squandered by the higher-ups at Cineplex. The Queensway VIP theatres makes you feel like you're at a Hollywood premiere whenever you go, and the service is top-notch. The AMC theatres are known for being cavernous and clean. The Coliseum, despite being parked in the middle of the Mississauga City Centre, feels like a relic of the past. It's never really been upgraded or modernized, and all the exhibits in the halls have never changed since their opening in the late 90s.
There are better places to go. The only reason I'd recommend going here is for the IMAX showings, and really, there are better places you can go for those (like the Scotiabank in Toronto).
Don't come here unless you don't have any other options.
P.S. They still haven't staffed the second-floor concession booth. Tear it down or replace it with something else, because it's always an eyesore whenever I go.
