  • Ok, I just don't get this. There has been so much hype over this place before it even opened a store. I'm in the east end, so it is out of the way for me, but decided to make the trek and try one of these doughnuts that are taking the city by storm. My partner drives there and they are all sold out. They tell him to return in a hour. When we do, there is a lineup of people already. Everybody's ordering them by the dozen. I mean, these things are flying off the shelves like the must have toy for the Christmas. I'm thinking this is crazy, but this has to be good. By the time we get to order, I'm basically taking the slim pickings of the leftovers, and there are a bunch of people behind me that I will have even less of a choice after my half dozen. I can't remember doughnut we ordered, but I do know we had black forest, Elvis, maple, and I think chocolate pistachio. This sentence proves my point. Nothing memorable at all. Glory hole doughnuts are doughnuts. That's it. They are not bad doughnuts, but this is not some evolution of a doughnut. To be honest, they just taste like any doughnut you would get at tim's grated the doughnut was fresh and not sitting there all day (I alway love when you can taste that the doughnut is fresh at Tim's) So of the flavours I didn't even get like the black forest that taste nothing like a black forest cake. It just has some whip cream and a cherry on top a chocolate dip. What I really don't get is the price. When you pay basically $20 for 6 doughnuts, these need to be special, and these are not spacial, not even Krispy Kream special. I had a bad feeling about how trendy the experience was as soon as we stood in line, but was hoping that it was worth all the hype, but was not even close. Im all for food trends, but this experience just made me feel like a was a sucker standing in line to pay for an overpriced product so that I can be/feel 'cool' or 'on trend'. I will never say the doughnuts where horrible, but with all the gimmicks in the name, social media, ect, this business is more trend focus than product.
