I was raised on these. Seriously. I remember coming here as a child. My grandmother used to buy me these every time we came to Market Village. When people say this place brings back childhood memories, they aren't kidding. This place should be a Chinese Canadian landmark. I used to stand on the stone step next to their store window and watch the Chinese aunties make egg rolls (actually, I still do).
Their mini egg cakes are delicious. They're fresh. They're hot. They're soft, fluffy and moist on the inside, and crispy on the outside. If you can get past this stand without following your nose here, I hope you get over your nasal congestion soon. At $3.00 for the regular flavor, taxes included, this makes one of the most satisfying sweet snacks I've ever had.
I came today and tried their chocolate mini egg cakes for the first time. They take a handful of chocolate chips (Chipits brand) and sprinkle them into their original batter that is already in the pan. The cooking process melts the chocolate chips so that when you eat it hot (and you should), the chocolate is melty and delicious. I have to say that the chocolate mini egg cakes are pretty darn tasty, but they lack the nostalgia that the original brings.
Come and eat mini egg cakes while they're hot! They're a must-try.
