| - Primitive Culture is a store that I've really tried to fall in love with. just as their website says, they carry fashions from High end designers from all over the world, some of which sell exclusively in Primitive Culture in Calgary. The clothing here is absolutely phenomenal and I have to say that whoever does their buying has spectacular taste.
The reason why I cannot fall in love with Primitive Culture is that their staff is absolutely hideously mannered. Although I'm happy that Primitive Culture has a trendier feel than Holt Renfrew does (While still at the same price point) each time I have visited the staff has been incredibly rude. Granted they do only sell female clothing, but I'm a little gay boy who's wardrobe consists of a 60-40 mix of female to male clothes since boy clothes simply doesnt fit me.
My last visit was definitely what will put me off of the space unless I'm accompanied by Tessa, a girl I met a Holts that helps dress me.
I walked in and asked for Chantal a girl who works here, they let me know she wasnt working that day, so i decided to take a look around. I inquired about where the Alexander Wang T Tshirts were so i could stock up seeing as i refuse to follow the labeled cleaning instructions and have to buy a new one every two months or so. The girl looked at me and said with a head gesture "over there"
There were no other shoppers in the store...no one!
I made my way over and had no one offer to help, I wandered around the store only to have the staff completely ignore me.
As I was getting ready to leave a girl came up to me (who i later learned is actually the manager) and said "so were you actually looking to purchase anything today?"
to which i responded "I dont let myself buy my own clothes, tessa has to come help me pick stuff out, i was just having a look around", to which her response in a very rude fashion "well you're having a very thorough look around aren't you?"
i looked at her and said "okay, yeah, im done" and left.
each time ive been here everyone has been incredibly rude, I'm not sure if they realize that although many of their items cannot be purchased anywhere else in calgary, they certainly can be purchases a short plane ride away in vancouver, or through Holt Renfrew.
I absolutely will not be making my way back here.
and this manager needs to be sent home indefinitely
It's really sad that they had a client that is willing to spend endless amounts of money on clothes but who will simply not be able to due to the nature of the location
