Sorry to be the buzz killer. Yes, you can get scrubs and some general clothing items at reasonable prices, but much of it is nearly as much as you would pay new at a discount chain. $14 for a shirt with someone elses name on the collar...uh huh. And...whoever is in charge of pricing household items and electronics is in dream land. Most of it is grossly over-priced. Let us all keep in mind..
.these are used goods and they have an explicit 'no returns' policy. Used household goods and electronics are a crap shoot. $45 for a used sweeper when a brand new equivalent at Wally World can be had for $80? No thanks.
That, and their staff are pretty darned cranky. 20 minutes before closing they are hollering from the front counter at 5 minute intervals to get your stuff and get to the front, even going so far as to shut off the lights in the back of the store. Thrift store or not, it is a retail business. In properly run stores, the place is open until the last customer rings out...these folks want the doors locked and to be on their way home to dinner at the stroke of 6pm.
Then there is the issue of affiliation. They maintain that they are an independent entity that buys from organizations like the veterans pick-up guys with the trucks...yet the trucks are parked on their property and dispatched from their location. I'd like to see the actual percentage that the vets see from this. And I seriously doubt that they are a 501c3 non profit.
Go to a real thrift store that serves the community like the Rochester Goodwill or the Saint Vincent dePaul in Coroapolis...they price items realistically and truly serve the less fortunate...and the stay open until 8pm and are also open Saturday.
