  • I wished I went online and read all of the reviews for this company because I definitely wouldn't have signed a lease with them. But unfortunately we've had to endure this experience and take a loss. First of all, we were promised that our rental home would be ready before we move in. Unfortunately, there were a handful of things that we had to submit a work order request and wait a few days for someone to come and fix them. Then the toilet in our guest bathroom (located on the first floor) started to leak four days prior to our housewarming party. When I submitted a different work order request for that, someone called us to tell us that we would have to wait a week and that in the meantime, we can just shut off the water control which was located outside in front of the house each time someone had to use that toilet. After some complaining, they sent someone out after hours to replace our toilet. Most times when I would reach out to get an answer for some reason, I wouldn't hear back from their office. But if they needed something from us, we would get a bunch of phone calls and email messages with that request. There were a couple of times when the office staff was helpful but most of the time, they gave responses and answers that still left the issues unresolved. When it came time to renew our lease, they notified us in a letter that we would get $150 taken off our first month's rent with our renewal lease as an appreciation gift...and then a few sentences later, we were informed that our rent was going up $70 more a month...what a joke. We were already paying $1,625 for rent which didn't include pool service, water, sewage and trash like so many other places include all of that in the rent. When I told them that we weren't renewing, I was asked what could they do to keep us as tenants so I expressed my disappointment with the rent going up $70 more a month, in addition to having to pay separately for pool service, water, sewage and trash. I heard nothing back and I continued to email them for a response back...but nothing was said in the end. Then I got told my the home inspector (really nice guy by the name of Russ) that we would be charged $150 for touch up paint in a number of areas. Imagine my surprise when we were actually charged $200 for it. Lastly, HH mailed us a check for the remaining balance of our security deposit (a little over $2,500) but they put all 5 of our names (mine, my partner and my 2 nephews and niece) on it. While I understand that we are all on the lease, we we weren't able to cash the check with any financial institutions because we were told that all 5 of us have to be on the same bank account in order to cash it. Well I emailed the main office this morning to ask if they can just reissue another check to the primary person on our rental account, they said they couldn't do that because the law says so (Understandably so!). Then I responded and asked if they can issue separate individual checks to each of us in an equal amount that will total our remaining balance, and all I got told by Jorge is "No we are not." So I've informed him that we will be taking legal actions against them for OUR money that they still have (NOTE: Bank of America has decided to NOT return our check, which I've expressed to Jorge and I even said that Id be happy to send them a copy of the letter from Bank of America to show proof). And I will be sure to have my lawyer include in my claim that they will be responsible for all of my out of pocket costs having to do with retrieving our money back from them. Do yourself a favor and NEVER rent from Haven Homes! I'll be posting this review on all of my social media network pages, as well spreading the word to as many people about my bad experience with Haven Homes.
