| - This is the absolute worst place I have ever lived. The customer service and fees are incomprehensible. Where should I even begin?
The MAA connect fee of $50 is not optional is for your cable service, although not every apartment has it. I had friends living in other apartments that didn't have to pay it, some did and some did not. How does that even make sense? No one should be forced to pay for a service if they do not want it - also, it should be one way across the board, not different per every resident.
When requesting any maintenance, it takes forever for them to come fix it. I had them there to fix my sink 3 or 4 times over the 3 years I lived there, and it was never properly fixed. They also put the wrong size air filter in and bent it to make it fix. I had numerous problems with my AC not working in 90+ degree summertime. Since it was never fixed, I continued to have the issue every summer.
The office is of no help at all, and there is a very high turnover rate. I had a street light go out in front of my apartment and put the request in maybe 5 times. Every time they would complete the request and say it was fixed and I would call and tell them it wasn't fixed. It took them 2 months to fix it. This is a safety issue which they did not take seriously. I had to walk the dog, and return in the night, to darkness due to no street lamp. The only instance they addressed quickly, was accusing me of not picking up my dogs poop (not the case - it was another the dog and owner in the neighborhood). Speaking of picking up poop, the dog centers are always overflowing with poop (which are very smelly) and anytime the bags run out, they are not replaced for a week, minimum.
The trash around this place is terrible. It is never cleaned up, and always looks like a junkyard. I have found used condoms, pipes, chicken bones, and drug paraphernalia in the grass while walking my dog. Also another safety concern. I walked up on a guy sleeping in his car with his pants down and his door open one morning also while walking my dog. This place is not a safe place to live, nor is it any place you would want to bring a family. In my last few months of living there, the cops were called maybe 5 times nearby for disturbances. My neighbor was told there was some guy outside with a gun per the cops - and the police were receiving more and more calls recently than they ever had.
I lived there for 3+ years and my rent was constantly changing - and when I say changing, I mean going up. They do not treat existing renters like they even matter. For the price you pay to live in one of these apartment, you could live uptown. Why even bother?
When I moved out, I cleaned my apartment very well, and they are charging me fees for non-compliance for renters insurance while I have not been there for two months. I also received fees for holes in the wall, a refrigerator cleaning fee, and bath tub cleaning fee. The office had specifically advised that normal wear and tear (like holes in the wall were not an issue - there is their first lie) and I cleaned out my bath tub and refrigerator very well.
I really hope you find this review useful, as I don't usually write reviews, but this had to be said. I hope that it helps you make the decision that this is not the place for you. I wasted so much time here and wish I had moved out after the first year. It only got worse the longer I stayed there. I actually left before my lease was up this time, and I got hit with over $4000 worth of fees as my husband was moved abruptly out of the country overseas (he's a contractor). They would not work with me at all, although I have been a "valued customer" for over 3 years.
