  • The short version. Do not use this company. The rest of the story I was having problems with my Goettl heat pump not providing the required heat during a recent cold snap. I contacted Goettl (who was the manufacturer of the unit) thinking that they might have some insight as to what was wrong and they told me that I could have a technician come to my home to do an evaluation for $79. I chose not to because I had a local HVAC company(Discount Air Care) I had worked with on an earlier project that I was confident in. Shortly after I spoke with Goettl, they called me back and offered to have a technician come to my home at no charge. I agreed since a second opinion is always a good idea. The Goettl technician (Aaron) arrived and did his work. His conclusion was, my unit was significantly overcharged with freon, there was a leak in the system and I needed to replace the unit with a cost of $6500-$10,000. When I started to ask some questions, such as if my unit had a leak in the Freon system, how could it be overcharged with Freon? No response. Or where is the leak? He pointed to a coil and said it was there and I should be able to see it. I could not see any evidence of a leak. Nothing was making sense to me and Aaron was becoming somewhat irritated that I was asking questions. I asked him for a written report on what he found. As he was about to prepare the report, I noticed that he had not put the side panels back on the heat pump so I asked him if he was going to reassemble the unit. His response.....That I should do it as it myself. Then I noticed that he had not reconnected the electrical. So I asked him to please do that as it is 220volts and I was not sure how to do it and 220v can be deadly if I erred. He is clearly agitated now and tells me that all I wanted was a FREE inspection. Needless to say, my response was rather pointed, as I did not ask Goettl to come to my home for a free inspection, they offered. He did reassemble the unit and he did reconnect the electrical. However he left without leaving the promised report. Interesting side note. I had Discount Air Care of Fountain Hills come out to give me a quote on a new unit. He checked the Freon and it was exactly where it should be. No evidence of a leak,. and he quoted me $4800 for a new unit from American Standard, the parent company of Trane.. Buyer Beware of Goettl
