It was a Friday during lent so my girlfriend ordered the "special" shrimp scampi and I ordered another pasta dish. I asked for a side of meatballs. I had expected traditional large italian meatballs. What I got was 5 mini meatballs. Like the ones you would put in a crockpot with barbecue sauce as a snack before a football game. These meatballs were an embarrassment to Italian food. I can't believe they would even bring these things out of the kitchen. They weren't even previously homemade and frozen. They were the same grey colored frozen mini meatballs from a grocery store. They didn't even serve them on the side with sauce as is normally done. They just unceremoniously threw them on top of my pasta dish. I am sure they were frozen because when I bit into the first one - it was still ice cold inside. Not like it had cooled off - it was refrigerator cold. Awful. Only ate half of one. When I told the waitress mty meatballs were cold she apologized and said she would tell the manager. When the "manager" who looked to be about 19 years old, came over 10 minutes later it appeared she was checking to see if I had still eaten them, as if I was trying to pull a fast one. She never said one word to us she only cruised by and looked at my plate.
Normally, at Italian restaurants, the portions are huge. My portion was tiny and the sauce was basically flavorless (for $13.95). My girlfriends shrimp scampi was also a tiny portion with a few small shrimp that I guarantee were thawed frozen shrimp. The sauce was thin and flavorless. It looked like milk in the bottom of the bowl. The best part was the bill - the shrimp scampi special was $18.95! It was horrendous. The service was mostly bad with the 16 year old hostess having to come over to take our orders because the waiter was "too busy". Even though the place was mostly empty. She made a mistake on the appetizer we ordered. All in all it was probably the worst meal I've had in a restaurant. At least that I can remember.
I will say they comped me my cocktail - a $9 Moscow Mule as recourse for my horrible meal. Yes, cocktails are all outrageously priced as well. Needless to say - we will not be back. Ever.
