  • Why, oh why, can't someone put any cool restaurants like the Windsor in North Scottsdale? If it wasn't a 40 minute drive away, I would be living at this place. Seriously. Maybe I should just ask them to let me throw a cot on the patio, get them to promise to leave the misters on during the summer, and I'll pay their rent. Where to start? The restaurant is housed in an old 1940s (I think) building that they remodeled to - get this - look like a restaurant that has been there since the 1940s. This is not to say that it feels old, just worked in and comfortable like a catchers mitt from little league. I have no idea how they accomplished that feeling while working with new materials. The bar is a horseshoe in the middle of the restaurant with a mahogany top and a "floating" box for liquor storage. Although I have not had a chance to sit in the booths, they are black leather and look inviting and cozy. The patio is unreal. A wall of windows next to the bar collapses and the entire restaurant has an inside-outside vibe. There are plants everywhere and I truly felt like I was hanging out in a friend's backyard - sans pool. Once we saw the patio my date and I immediately decided to wait for a table out there. We stepped aside and servers were immediately asking us if they could get us a drink while we waited (which was very nice) and we each ordered one of their custom cocktails. I had the No.5 which was tequila based and the date ordered one with watermelon and Tito's vodka (I can't remember the number). Both were incredible and helped set the stage for a wonderful night. Our table opened up in about 10 minutes, well within the time quoted. I ordered the corn dog poppers (I really am just a big child) and the pork sandwich. Both were out of this world good. The poppers were just the right size and I am still craving that mustard. The porkwich was as billed, three different kinds of pork topped with slaw and gold sauce on a fresh bun. I think I overheard someone say that they were thinking about calling it the "pork threeway" - too funny. My date ordered the mixed grain salad and let me snag a quick bite before she scarfed it down. I can't remember everything that was in the salad, but the quinoa and zucchini went perfectly with the dressing. That salad was an all star, and I never eat salads. To wash it all down we each had a couple of glasses of the wine on tap (a very cool idea). Service - the service was great - not overbearing but always available when we needed them. Our server Morgan was very attentive and It looked like they operated on a team service model. It is nice to not have to search for your server if you need help. In all, this place is amazing. You won't be disappointed.
