| - I don't enjoy shopping experiences that come with a lot of pressure to make decisions on the spot or to buy items that I feel are out of my price range. Unfortunately, that was the way that I felt in Mattress Firm -- trapped and needing to make a decision, stat.
The store is well-laid out and brightly-lit, but when you're the only customers it can lead to feeling a little like you're under a spotlight. I didn't feel that I was given time to think about what I wanted, or to talk things through with my husband. The manager stayed right by our sides, leaving us to awkwardly mumble to each other because we didn't feel comfortable shouting, "This is way too expensive!"
The mattresses here were way out of my price range. I'm sure they are great quality, and they were very comfy when testing them out, but I wasn't in a place to spend that much. It was a little uncomfortable when we were asked about our price range and we were told that the amount we chose wasn't appropriate for buying a mattress! Um, ok, goodbye!
I think the last straw for me was when I was asked what type of mattress I liked -- and then being told I had made the wrong choice for my sleeping style. At this point in my life, I know what I like. You can't really tell someone that their opinions or preferences are wrong! We made a quick escape, and breathed a sigh of relief once we were in the outside world again. I wouldn't recommend this unless you're practicing your self-advocating or assertiveness skills.
