  • Perfect family activity - Hot Pot at Thai Cafe. Thai Cafe is a new restaurant right across the street from Chandler Fashion Mall. When, you first walk in, the atmosphere is quite modern, clean and very casual. I was attending a going away party where the host ordered 6 hot pots for 12 of us to share. If you have never experienced a hot pot, the servers put out a burner and bring a broth to a boil on your table. Then, you are served a plate of meat (I believe you can choose the more or less meat options) and fresh vegetables. Based on the number of people, you can cook everything at once or cook it individually. You are dealing with raw meat, so be careful with the use of your utensils. Don't use the same fork for touching the raw meat and feeding yourself. Please be sure to ask your servers, they are there to help you. The best part is the sauces. Once the meat is cooked, you can ladle some soup, meat and vegetables in a small bowl and add one of two type of sauces. In traditional Thai style, they have very distinct spices but they were both truly wonderful. I loved the experience and it was a treat to be out to eat and handling my own food and spice it just the way I like it. My mother is Thai and it definitely reminded me of making noodles at home. We also ate the satay, which was slightly overcooked but not bad and the chef made some homemade coconut ice cream which was sweet-goodness. I think this is a wonderful new addition to the Valley's ever-growing Thai restaurants. I wish I lived closer but it is worth my drive. Strongly suggest checking it out.
