  • For our second trip to Vegas, we decided to stay in a different hotel to explore a slightly different area. We had a couple free nights after our first trip and stay at Planet Hollywood. Based on reviews and the Promenade, we chose the Linq. I have to say, we weren't very impressed. We arrived at the hotel around 11pm and were happy to find kiosks right inside the door to check in. When we tried to do so, the kiosk told us our room wasn't ready and that we'd have to wait. Knowing this shouldn't be possible at 11pm, we were forced to go wait in line for about 20 min to check in. We were able to be checked right in after talking to an actual person. While the front desk associate didn't tell us we were "upgraded," we definitely had more of a suite than what we booked, which was great. Overall, while the room was very clean, the room seemed a bit dated compared to the super clean modern feel we had at Planet Hollywood and expected here. I read reviews indicating people weren't happy with the folding door between the bedroom and the bathroom - we had NO door at all. Luckily we had the suite, so we had a door between the bedroom and living area. If there were double beds in the room and two couples in there, it would be VERY awkward to shower/use the bathroom with no door. This is the first hotel I think I've been in where there isn't basic hand lotion as a complimentary amenity. The shampoo/conditioner brand was also pretty horrible for my hair, but that could have just been me. The pillows weren't great and the closet only had one spare - we felt like they were very flat so wished we had more. The room did have two nice sized tvs, one or two mini complimentary bottles of water, a keurig with a few pods, and an empty fridge to store leftovers. The room had free wifi, but it was only for two devices and it kept kicking us out and making us sign back in. We were on the 16th floor, but even so, the music from the venue down below us was SO loud it was hard to sleep. The music started around lunch time, so taking a nap during the day was pretty impossible, and went until about 3am, so unless you were drunk (which we weren't the first night due to the long flight), you couldn't really fall asleep easily. The hotel itself was pretty underwhelming compared to Planet Hollywood. We really did like the Promenade and the Hash House, but there were way fewer shops and restaurant options it seemed. The casino itself ended up being very fun. Some of the dealers were not even remotely friendly or helpful to the point of being rude, but luckily that wasn't the norm amongst them. The music they played in the casino was great and kept the people at our blackjack table happy for hours. We had a late flight home the last day and asked about a late check out and were able to get one at 2pm for a pretty cheap price. Unfortunately, the front desk didn't pass that message on to housekeeping, so they were knocking on our door a little after normal checkout time asking when we were leaving and not seeming to believe that we paid to stay. Overall, I'm glad we stayed there to try it out and experience that section of the strip, but wouldn't likely stay here again in the future.
